Black Label Society turned up the heat on their second LP, offering another engine-rumbling dose of unadulterated heavy metal with monster truck-sized riffs and solos that squeal like a flaming tire on asphalt. Zakk Wylde played every instrument but the drums on Stronger Than Death, and these tracks are bleeding with the determined energy and fist-swinging anger that makes Black Label Society such a timelessly fun band. Plus, the title-track even features roaring growls from Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza. Homerun, indeed.
