Brother Cane is he best band in the history of rock and roll to ever be dropped by a label.
What was Virgin Records thinking? They only released 3 albums with 30 songs of perfection. I mean, their worst song is probably Got No Shame, and I say that probably just because it was overplayed. Thats like saying Carry On, My Wayward Son is the worst song on theLeftoverturealbum by Kansas, which I believe.
Interviewing Damon Johnson at the Sneakers club in Austin, Texas, before a Brother Cane show one afternoon was one of my journalistic highlights. We hit it off and discovering that Damon was a serious fan of Phil Keaggy was a breath of fresh air.
I have every song in their catalog on my smartphone, which I constantly play on shuffle. I get an earful of Brother Cane at least once a day for I dont know how many years now (more than a decade). Brilliant rock songs, killer tones and sonics, attitude galore, and that kind of play-like-your-pants-are-on-fire guitar on just about every song.
Easily one of my favorite bands of all time.
